Taiwan-Made ‘Smart’ Disposable Diapers to Hit Market This Year

What will they think of next? Apparently, the answer is electronic adult incontinence disposable diapers for older, chronically ill patients. Taiwan’s Industrial Technology Research Institute has teamed up with three manufacturers in order to develop these diapers. The diapers have sensor modules which can alert healthcare givers as to when the diaper needs to be changed (you’ll never guess how – read the article to find out). In the future, these smart diapers could even connect with other medical equipment through security systems or cable TV. Amazing.

You are probably familiar with the first few apps mentioned but not so much with the last one. iDry is the latest iPhone, iPad, iTouch app aimed towards helping people dealing with urinary incontinence improve their lives. Urinary incontinence can affect anyone at any age and this app can chart a person’s progress through techniques like exercise. The reviews so far are positive and it’s free. Hopefully, this app will soon be available for other smartphones.

Medline Expands Adult Incontinence Site in Georgia

There’s growth and then there’s growth. Medline is expanding their adult incontinent operation after being in their new facility for less than a year (they opened in January 2012). With an aging population, there continues to be a greater demand for incontinence products. Medline has responded with more capacity along with a fifth machine and that also means adding more personnel. They are doing their part to help with the Georgia unemployment rate . . .
