You can’t sit down to watch the news, your favorite show or a sporting event without seeing a car commercial detailing the latest and greatest models available. A lot of long-range planning goes into producing those vehicles and it affects all aspects of the automotive value chain. Johnson Controls is planning for the future too and looking at everything from car interiors (nonwoven suppliers will take notice of this) to batteries to how other countries use their vehicles (read: luxury car customers in China). Johnson Controls is even researching driverless driving. Wouldn’t that be a cool feature for a vehicle, especially for those with long commutes? Get in your car, punch in your destination, sit back and enjoy the ride.

Sandler Celebrates CEO’s 60th Birthday and Unveils Latest Investment

Birthdays can be a milestone in anyone’s life. Particularly, when you celebrate a new decade of possibilities. Mr. Christian Heinrich Sandler recently celebrated his 60^th year (Happy Birthday!) with a big gala and it sounds like there was a great turnout for the occasion (460+). Another big reason for Mr. Sandler to celebrate was the announcement of two new investments for his company, Sandler AG – their production line and an expansion of their service centre. The guests in attendance were even given a sneak peek at the production line.

Have you seen car commercials where they promise a quiet ride? So quiet, in fact, that you could take a nap in your car while there is chaos and constant noise outside around you? Car manufacturers always seem to be on the lookout for ways to differentiate their product from others and a new damping material, AUTYL, could be one way to do that. It promises more acoustic comfort and also has the potential to lower fuel consumption (think lighter weight). Could there possibly be other market applications too? Aircraft? Buildings? Bayer MaterialScience Awards Brand and Distribution License to Solid Composites
